I disagree, but only because reply tweets are the same "class" of content as the initial image tweet itself. It makes it less a comment on the image and more a post directed towards the image's poster. I also think Twitter's UI is still somewhat hostile to viewing them because of how thumbnails aren't just shrunk but also trimmed. I can see where you're coming from though.
